FAQ - Japanese Knotweed CPD
What does the CPD certificate offer in practice?
These CPD courses give strong practical understanding of Japanese knotweed identification and risk. They do not qualify delegates to issue guarantee-backed knotweed reports or treatment plans. High-risk cases still require a specialist survey.
Is this CPD training formally accredited?
Yes. Every delegate receives a CPD certificate detailing the learning outcomes and duration of the course. Our training sessions are designed around recognised professional development standards, making them suitable for surveyors, estate agents, legal teams, lenders and contractor organisations needing verifiable CPD hours.
Can you deliver the training at our office or on-site?
Yes. Most full-day and half-day courses are delivered directly at client premises or an appropriate local venue. This reduces travel time, keeps teams together, and allows us to adapt the session to the real-world conditions your staff work in. All we typically need is a meeting space, a screen or projector, and – for practical demonstrations – access to a small outdoor area.
What is the ideal group size for a training session?
We recommend groups of 6–20 delegates for the best learning experience. Smaller groups allow for deeper discussion and 1-to-1 questions. Larger organisations often split teams into multiple sessions so every delegate receives a consistent, high-quality experience.
Do delegates need any prior knowledge of Japanese knotweed?
No. The course assumes mixed experience. We start with clear fundamentals and progress into real-world examples, legal considerations, report writing, seasonal identification and treatment options. Even experienced surveyors and managers find the practical demonstrations particularly valuable.
Is the online CPD course as detailed as the on-site options?
The online session delivers strong identification skills, core treatment understanding and practical next steps, but it does not include demonstrations or hands-on experience. If you need full operational awareness or survey-facing capability, the on-site full-day or half-day versions will be more appropriate.
Will this training qualify me to write full Japanese knotweed reports for mortgage lenders?
No. While the training significantly improves identification accuracy and understanding of reporting requirements, formal JKE survey reports and guarantee-backed treatment plans must still be carried out by qualified specialists. CPD training allows delegates to recognise when a specialist report is needed and communicate risk clearly to clients and buyers.
Can the course be tailored to our sector?
Yes. We regularly customise content for:
RICS surveyors and valuation teams
Estate agents and auction houses
Solicitors and conveyancers
Housing associations
Lenders and brokers
Contractors and FM teams
Bespoke modules, sector-specific examples and tailored case studies can be added on request.
How far in advance should we book?
Booking 4–6 weeks in advance provides the best availability, especially during peak surveying and growing seasons. However, if you have an urgent requirement or need a specific date, we will always try to accommodate it.
Can individuals book onto an open course?
Yes. We run open-enrolment sessions periodically. If you are booking for yourself rather than a full team, simply mention this in your enquiry and we will confirm upcoming dates or add you to the waiting list.
Do you provide course materials after the session?
Yes. Delegates receive reference imagery, key identification notes, treatment insight sheets and practical guidance depending on the course level. These reinforce learning and support consistent application of the training afterwards.
Do you cover other invasive species in this course?
The core course focuses on Japanese knotweed due to its impact on valuation, lending and property transactions. However, we can add optional modules covering other invasives such as bamboo, Himalayan balsam or giant hogweed if required.
What outcomes should we expect after the training?
Teams typically report:
Faster, more accurate identification
Fewer unnecessary “possible knotweed” flags
Clearer communication in reports and client discussions
Reduced transaction delays
Greater confidence when advising buyers, sellers and site managers
For organisations handling property risk, this training pays for itself very quickly.
