Do you require someone to carry out Tree Surveys in Wales?

Tree Surveys in Wales, help to assess the size, age, health and life expectancy of a tree. Surveys can be carried out on trees with a diameter of over 75mm. As part of this report, we will give advice on any treatment that may be required by the tree/s. This will include whether or not the tree should be retained on site.

The reasons to require a tree survey in Wales: tree surveys are often required as part of a planning application for a development project. This is particularly the case if the development is likely to affect the surrounding landscape. Another reason to carry out a tree survey is for insurance purposes in both commercial and domestic cases.

To be suitable for planning applications, tree surveys in Wales and throughout the UK should be conducted in line with British Standard 5837-2012. This will ensure the survey is carried out to the highest standard and complies with relevant regulations.

Occasionally, when we complete a tree survey, the tree surveyed is identified as having a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) applied. These can be applied to trees when they are located in a specific area. Alternatively, when a tree has significant amenity value, is rare or is a good specimen they will apply a TPO. Trees with a TPO applied to them require additional documentation and searches. Visit our page on TPO’s for more information.
